April

Etherow Country Park, Stockport

It’s April, the geese are nesting and the ganders guarding. This goose has chosen a nest site right next to a public footpatch in Etherow Country Park. It’s unlikely she will be successful here, too many off-lead dogs, too many people, and too many swans.

But she has lasted long enough to lay some eggs.

Her gander is guarding, though I suspect he is quite young – he’s easily distracted and not paying the attention or care he should. But he can still give a good hiss – this particular threat display aimed at a passing pigeon.
